Search Parma Booking Releases

Parma booking releases cover arrests made by the Parma Police Department and processed through the Parma Detention Center or the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center. Parma is one of the few Ohio cities that runs its own detention facility, which makes the booking process a bit different from most other cities in the state. This page explains how to find booking records, request police reports, and use search tools for Parma arrests.

The Parma Police Department Records Division handles public records requests for the city. The department is at 5555 Powers Blvd, Parma, OH 44129. Chief of Police is Joseph M. Bobak. The department has three main divisions: uniformed patrol, investigations, and records.

You can request public records by emailing records@parmajustice.net. You can also go in person to the Records Room window inside the main lobby of the Parma Justice Center. Walk-in hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To get a copy of a police report at the window or request one by mail, call 440-887-7300 first to find out the cost. Reports are not given out at the Police Department's 24-hour front desk.

Ohio law does not require you to explain why you want records. You can ask for arrest reports, incident reports, and other public documents without giving a reason.

Parma Detention Center

Parma operates its own detention center, which is not the case for most Ohio cities this size. The Parma Detention Center is a full-service jail staffed by one jail administrator, one civilian administrative assistant, and 18 corrections officers. The facility can hold up to 26 inmates at a time.

When someone is arrested by Parma Police, they may be held at the Parma Detention Center for short stays or transferred to the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center in Cleveland for longer holds. Under ORC 341.02, all jails must maintain a register with each prisoner's name, date and cause of commitment, and date of discharge.

Visitation at the Parma Detention Center runs on a set schedule. Visits are on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each inmate gets one 30-minute visit per day during those windows.

Cuyahoga County Corrections Center

For more serious charges or longer holds, Parma arrests may go through the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center. This is a large facility in Cleveland that processes over 26,000 inmates per year and has about 700 correctional staff. It handles both misdemeanor and felony bookings from cities across Cuyahoga County.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office runs the corrections center. The sheriff's office is at 1215 West 3rd Street, Justice Center 3rd Floor, Cleveland, OH. You can reach them at (216) 443-6000. Visitation at the county facility works through a video system. Visitors can use smartphones, laptops, or kiosks at the jail. Visits must be scheduled through Securus Technologies, and an account is needed to set that up.

Because Parma uses both its own detention center and the county jail, searching for booking records takes a couple of steps. For people held at the Parma Detention Center, you will need to contact the Parma Police Department directly. The department does not run a public online inmate search for its local facility.

For inmates at the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center, the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office provides inmate information. Contact the sheriff's office at (216) 443-6000 for current custody status. The county has worked on expanding digital access to jail data in recent years.

Ohio's public records law, ORC 149.43, gives you the right to access booking records. You do not need to give your name or state why you want the data. Both the city and county must share public records within a reasonable time frame.

Statewide Booking Release Tools

If a Parma arrest leads to a state prison sentence, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction takes over. The ODRC offender search covers all state inmates. You can search by name and see facility location, sentence details, and release dates.

VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) is a free notification service that works across Ohio. You can register for alerts about a specific inmate and get notified by phone, email, or text when their status changes. VINE covers both county jails and state prisons.

Under ORC 5120.21, certain inmate info can be released even though full records are not public. That includes the person's name, convictions, photo, current location, and disciplinary history. The ODRC website is where to start for state-level searches.

What Parma Booking Records Show

A Parma booking release record includes the person's full name, date of birth, and physical description. It lists the charges, arresting agency, and booking date and time. If bond has been set, that amount appears as well. Records from the county jail may also include a mugshot and booking number.

A booking record only shows that an arrest was made. It is not proof of guilt. Charges can be dropped, reduced, or lead to an acquittal. Court records tell you the final outcome, so check those if you want the whole picture.
